A port city between its castle and the Montgó

Dénia gathers around a low castle hill beside the harbour, with the much larger limestone mass of the Montgó closing the inland horizon.

The castle reveals the city's passage from Dianium to the Taifa capital of Daniya and later Dénia. At sea level, fishing, ferries and a food culture recognised by UNESCO keep the port outward-looking.
